Not sure if anyone ever requested this...but can I request Haruka getting jealous about Takane and Shintaro's relationship? Drabble or headcanon, it's in your hands ;)
Hello! Again, sorry this took long!! To be honest I’m not sure if I had a block or if I was just lazy. But I believe it was the two things at once.
Also I wrote this while I was in a moving car SO it might have more mistakes than usual. I’m on a trip so I’m taking this small free time to publish this!!
I resisted so much to sneak some shinaya in because you didn’t mention it in the ask and what if you don’t like that ship??? So. I held myself back but it was hard… so many shinaya potential in this fic gone… sniff.
I was looking for an excuse to explain why I didn’t answer this earlier but in all honesty… I was lazy.
“Do you ever wonder if all of this is real?”
The only thing prompting light to the room was the reading lamp on the nightstand from Takane’s side of the bed. At the sound of his voice, she jumps, as she’s most likely to have thought he was already asleep. Quickly heading back to a serious expression, she shifts her attention from her book to him.
Partly worried about his question, and partly angry at him for scaring her, Takane asks, “What are you even talking about?”
For a moment, he intends to sit up and have a more comfortable position to talk, but instead, the anxiety of not being able to keep his thoughts to himself makes Haruka sink further under the covers. He barely stops himself from saying “nevermind, good night,” because he knows her far too well to presume she won’t take such an answer so well.
Instead, he forces himself to be honest, and tries to pull off a tone of voice that failed to mean it wasn’t that much of a deal. “Yeah, as if it was too good to be real, or a dream, or… something. Haha…”
No, it isn’t working. God, she’s making that horrified face. In times like this Haruka is reminded he should always keep quiet. Just as he’s about to apologize, Takane speaks up, in a calm voice that he didn’t expect at all,
“Sometimes I do,” she traps one of her fingers in between the pages she left off in the book, and shrugs. “But then I just remind myself that as bad as things were before, that’s how good they became, I guess?”
He hears her mutter under her breath something along the lines of “does that even make sense?” And he’s about to say something (to be honest, he isn’t sure if that something would’ve been a “thank you” or a refutal), but yet again, Takane’s faster to talk,
“So you shouldn’t torture yourself with all of this,” even with the little light, he can read clear exhaustion on her face when she offers him a reassuring smile. “I mean– There was a point in which I thought you were dead. Hell, you thought you were dead, and yet you’re here.”
“And you’re here with me.”
“I’m here with you,” she repeats, a giggle sneaking between words. “And I promise I’m going to still be when you wake up tomorrow.”

I want to thank @thehobbem so, so much for co-writing the dialogue! She spent hours going through metas and crafting this line-by-line with me. Yuuri was much harder to write for than Victor and I couldn’t have done it without her tireless work. ;u; I also want to thank @teasidesketches for doing final revisions despite not being in the fandom. I also want to dedicate this to @solfegefaerie for being the first one to give me the idea of writing Yuuri’s vows. They’re not vows this time, but I thought this was suiting. :)
If you can, you should read this while listening to “Yuri on Ice.” I matched the flow of the comic to that of the song, hence the tribute to the representation of Yuuri as the lone piano until Victor comes into his life as the violin (in case you were wondering about the sudden Music AU thrown in the middle there).
